Complex CMS pages: recommended method how to set up
-
Complex web pages may contain several paragraphs of text, possibly combined with pictures. Some words in the text and pictures may have underlining links.
Recommendations:
- Avoid to create all the contents - texts and images - into one big TYPO3 element.
- Subdivide the page in as many elements as needed, typically put each paragraph in its own TYPO3 element.
- To avoid long lines of text (somewhat difficult to read on screen), combine it with a picture on the left or right side of the text.
- You may also use the feature of picture description below the picture which may contain several lines of text.
See the webpage at LC Burgdorf as example:
burgdorf.lionsclub.ch > Archiv > Meetings 1009-2010 > Geologie im Emmental.
This web page is realized as a sequence of 6 elements, 4 of them containing pictures at different positions. Additionally, each picture can be clicked to show an enlarged image on a dark background.
See the TYPO3 Backend screenshot.Alternatively, you could also create the complex page in a word processing software, save it as a PDF file, upload it to the website and finally link to it. This method is better suited when printing the web contents as a good looking document is also important.

Copy / Paste from MS Word
-
When copying text from Microsoft Word, you are likely to copy unwanted formatting which may disrupt the layout of your website. This is due to Microsoft Word adding lots of internal formatting information to the copied text.
In order to "clean-up" the content you paste into TYPO3, please always use the Remove Formatting button from the Rich Text Editor (
). Then choose to remove MS Word Formatting:

Password is forgotten, how may I recover it?
-
Your password cannot be retrieved as it is stored as an encrypted text in the LionsBase database. This prevents anybody from being able to read it. It may however be reset as explain below.
Go to your club's website and click as usual on the padlock icon to show the login form.
Now click on hyperlink "Forgot your password?" below the login form and enter your email address (as stored in the LionsBase database). You will shortly receive an email with a link allowing you to reset your password.
Please note that the link you receive will only be active for a few days and may only be used once.
